The first phase is the Intensive Resurfacing Masque.

During this phase, clients may experience warmth or tingling as the masque works.
After the skin is neutralized, the treatment transitions into the cooling phase using the Rejuvenating Masque.
This refreshing masque helps soothe and hydrate freshly resurfaced skin while providing antioxidant support.
The contrast between the warming resurfacing phase and cooling hydration phase gives the treatment its signature Fire & Ice experience.

Pre- & Post-Care
Follow these guidelines before and after your Fire & Ice Facial to support your barrier and protect freshly resurfaced skin. For all treatments, see our full Pre/Post Care page.
Contraindications
- Extremely dry or dehydrated skin
- Sensitive or highly sensitized skin
- A compromised or impaired skin barrier
- Active irritation or significant inflammation
- Open wounds, cuts, abrasions, or broken skin in the treatment area
- Active sunburn
- A known sensitivity or allergy to any ingredients used during the treatment
- iS Clinical recommends that Fire & Ice not be a client's first iS Clinical professional facial. A gentler facial may be recommended first if the barrier needs support.
2–3 Weeks Before
- iS Clinical recommends pre-conditioning the skin for approximately 2–3 weeks with an appropriate four-step iS Clinical home-care regimen focused on barrier health.
- If your skin is dehydrated, sensitized, or compromised, your esthetician may recommend barrier-supportive home care and/or a gentler professional facial before scheduling Fire & Ice.
Before Your Appointment
- Avoid excessive or prolonged sun exposure and arrive without a sunburn.
- Do not intentionally tan the treatment area.
- Avoid picking, scratching, or irritating the skin.
- Tell your esthetician about any changes to your medications, prescription skincare, or skin condition, and about any recent professional skin treatments.
- Follow any instructions provided regarding temporary discontinuation of retinoids, exfoliating acids, scrubs, or other potentially irritating products.
- Do not discontinue prescription medication unless instructed to do so by the healthcare professional who prescribed it.
- If you develop significant irritation, broken skin, a rash, active infection, or sunburn before your appointment, contact Skin Alchemy HI before arriving. Your treatment may need to be rescheduled.
What to Expect During Your Treatment
Your Fire & Ice experience begins with cleansing and skin preparation.
The Intensive Resurfacing Masque is then applied to begin the warming “Fire” phase. You may experience warmth or tingling while the masque is on your skin.
After resurfacing, the skin is thoroughly neutralized.
Next comes the “Ice” phase. The cooling Rejuvenating Masque helps soothe, hydrate, and refresh the freshly resurfaced skin.
Your treatment is completed with professional serums, hydration, and sun protection selected according to your skin's needs.
Downtime
One of the reasons Fire & Ice has become such a popular resurfacing facial is its little to no visible downtime.
The skin may look refreshed and radiant immediately following treatment.
Individual responses vary, and temporary flushing or sensitivity may occur following an intensive resurfacing treatment.
